Helpless by Design: The Real Agenda Behind Gun Control
The right to defend oneself is not a political talking point—it is the final safeguard of all freedoms. Without it, every other right is merely a suggestion, dependent on the goodwill of those in power. A government that can decide whether its citizens are allowed to protect themselves is a government that can decide whether they are allowed to live free at all.
No matter how civilized a society claims to be, history proves one truth over and over again: those who cannot defend themselves are at the mercy of those who can. When individuals are stripped of the right to self-defense, they are left with nothing but hope—that criminals will choose mercy, that tyrants will choose restraint, that evil will choose not to strike.
But hope is not a strategy.
The Second Amendment was never about hunting or hobbies. It was written by men who understood tyranny firsthand—who knew that an armed population is the only true defense against oppression. The Founders did not give future generations the right to bear arms. They recognized it as a right that had always existed—a right so fundamental that to infringe upon it would be to deny the very essence of personal liberty.
A Disarmed People Are an Obedient People
Throughout history, disarmament has been the first step toward control. Every oppressive regime has known this.
- The Nazis passed the German Weapons Act of 1938, disarming Jewish citizens before the Holocaust.
- The Soviet Union systematically disarmed its population, ensuring that political dissent could never be backed by force.
- In China, Mao Zedong made it clear: "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." And so, only the government held the guns.
Each of these regimes promised security in exchange for surrender. And in each case, the people who gave up their weapons soon found they had given up their freedom as well.
Those who say, “It could never happen here,” forget that history does not ask for permission to repeat itself.
Personal Responsibility: The Forgotten Factor
Today, the right to self-defense is under attack—not because of logic or necessity, but because of fear. Every act of violence is used as an argument for disarming law-abiding citizens, while the real issue is ignored:
- Mental health is in crisis, yet no real solutions are proposed.
- Personal responsibility has been replaced with blame.
- Criminals ignore laws by definition, yet new laws are written that only affect the innocent.
Taking away guns from responsible citizens does not disarm criminals. It does not stop violence. It only guarantees that when evil comes, its victims will be defenseless.
Self-Defense Is a Right, Not a Government-Issued Privilege
To say that self-defense is unnecessary is to say that police can be everywhere at once. It is to say that criminals obey laws. It is to say that the government, which has failed its citizens time and time again, is the only entity fit to decide who may protect themselves and who may not.
But when seconds matter, help is often minutes away.
No person should be forced to rely on the mercy of an attacker. No free people should be forced to rely on the mercy of their government. The right to bear arms is not about a love for weapons—it is about a refusal to be powerless.
The disarmed are the controlled. The armed are the free.
The right to defend oneself is the last line of defense between liberty and servitude. It is a line that must never be crossed.
